Getting a large term life insurance policy used ot mean that you had to visit your doctor for a physical, or at least submit to a para medical exam where they took urine, blood samples, height, weight, and a medical history. This, in addition to the process of applying for life insurance took up a lot of time. Many people also considered it an invasion of privacy so they put off applying for life insurance because they did not want their personal information put out in public.

However life insurance has become a very competitive business now, especially term life insurance. You can find large amounts of  cheap term life insurance with no medical exam now, and many companies allow you to apply for life insurance online.
